New Chief Justice of the Federal Court

The Hon Justice Patrick A Keane was sworn in as the third Chief Justice of the Federal Court of Australia on Monday 22 March 2010. Chief Justice Keane was formerly a Justice of Appeal of the Supreme Court of Queensland. His Honour had an eminent career at the Queensland Bar before his appointment to the Supreme Court, including as Solicitor-General for Queensland between 1992 and 2005. In 2003 he was awarded the Centenary Medal.
